Dining Information

Members of Des Moines Golf and Country Club enjoy a variety of dining experiences! 

The Iowa Grille has a true family atmoshphere with children often present.  Our Casual Bar is for adults only after 4:00 p.m.  The menu for both of these areas consists of small plates, sandwiches, fresh fish, steaks, pasta and entrée salads.  Dress is casual and jeans are most acceptable.  Al fresco dining is avaible on the patio during the season.

One of the only formal dining rooms left in Des Moines is our Candlelight Dining Room.  Jackets are required for gentlemen and like attire for the ladies is expected in the room.  Prime, dry-aged beef, domestic lamb and fresh fish make up the majority of the menu.  Salads being made tableside, Chateaubriand and Rack of Lamb that are carved and plated tableside and desserts flamed tableside all make eating in this room a true dining experience.  

Arrive a little early for your Candlelight reservation and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Continental Lounge. The winter sunsets are gorgeous from this room! And the summer sunsets from the outdoor patio are out of this world.

Our award winning wine list* is available in all of the dining areas and selections on the list are often the result of our several wine dinners offered throughout the year.  Guests at these dinners have included; Peter Seghesio of Seghesio Family Winery, Peter Franus of his eponymous winery, Jan Schrem owner of Clos Pegase Estate Vineyards and P.J. Rex an owner of Deerfield Ranch Winery. 

For our Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and holiday buffets we pull out all the stops. These are great family occasions, but we also see groups of young members and “Empty Nesters” enjoying their Club on these days.
